Three-Vehicle Accident on I-20 Leaves one Woman Dead

Earlier this month in Arlington, a three-vehicle accident involving a semi-truck, an SUV, and a passenger car left one woman dead and several other people seriously injured. According to a report by CBS DFW, the accident occurred on I-20 around 2:30 a.m. in South Arlington.

Evidently, a car struck the rear-end of a semi-truck and subsequently lost control, eventually crashing into a nearby SUV. The SUV and the car both careened off the roadway and into the center median. Three occupants of the car and one occupant of the SUV needed to be extricated from their vehicles by emergency personnel.

All four of the people injured in the accident were taken to various local hospitals. One woman was pronounced dead after her body succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the accident. The other three are believed to still be in serious condition.

Police believe that both alcohol and speed may have been involved in the fatal car accident, and they are conducting an investigation to find out for sure. At the time of the article’s publication, no arrests had been made, but it is likely that subsequently police have arrested the party at fault.

Drunk Driving Accidents in the DFW Area
The article does not specify, but something at the accident scene gave responding police officers the idea that alcohol was involved in the accident. Perhaps it was an open container found in the vehicle, or maybe alcohol was on the breath of one of the drivers. Either way, it is likely that someone caused this fatal accident by drinking and driving.

Drinking and driving is a serious crime in Texas, punishable by both fines and prison time, especially in cases where there are serious injuries or death as a result. In addition, drunk drivers can be held liable by their victims for the injuries and losses they caused.
