Pedestrian Killed In DFW Crosswalk Only Six Years Old

Police in Grand Prairie arrested a middle school teacher after she ran a stop light and struck a first grader, John Raidy on Thursday. Then she sped off.

Police had released photos of the car and were hunting for its driver, which presumably caused Tammy Lowe, 53, of Grand Prairie, to finally turn herself in yesterday.

The teacher has been charged with felony counts of manslaughter and failing to stop and render aid.

Evidence shows that the youngster, who was walking with his mother and sister, had lhe green light for 14 seconds as they crossed North Carrier Parkway before Lowe crashed
her 2008 Toyota into John. They were in a residential area next to their apartment complex and were just down the street from a high school.

What a terrible story. My prayers go out to the family of this sweet boy.

It reminded me of a case that I just settled on Monday when a young man was struck in a crosswalk in South Arlington and another that I settled last year where a woman was hit in a crosswalk in Arlington acroff from the Rangers stadium. Both were seriously injured but have fortunately recovered from their injuries.

Drivers who crash their vehicles into pedestrians make me angry and I will fight them and their insurance companies to make sure that my client’s rights are vindicated.
