Texas Supreme Court Dale Wainwright Quits

Texas Supreme Court Justice Dale Wainwright has resigned from the Court effective next week. It is not clear who his replacement will be. His elected term ends in December of 2014.

Justice Wainwright joined the Court in January 2003 and is the third longest-serving justice on the Court. He is only the second African American to take the bench of our state’s highest court. Before he was elected, he served four years as a Harris County district court judge. Prior to that, he worked for corporate law firms Haynes and Boone and Andrews Kurth.

He has been hired by the mega national law firm Bracewell & Giuliani where he will make a ton of money representing giant corporations and insurance companies in their appeals before the Supreme Court.
