Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day is one of the best days of the year. We have so much to be thankful for. As we gather with our family and friends to celebrate, go to church, play and watch football, and of course indulge in food and drink, we will remember those people for whom we are so thankful. We will speak to our spiritual beliefs and draw strength from our faith in God. We will be glad that we live in the greatest country in the history of the world.

Here’s a little history that I found interesting. Some historians believe that Spanish explorers coming onland here in Texas, or in Florida before that, celebrated their good fortune many years before the Pilgrims did in 1621. George Washington declared that November 26, 1789 was the official day of celebration for our new nation. Abraham Lincoln tried to establish the last Thursday in November in 1863 to try to bring the warring northern and southern states together. Franklin Roosevelt changed it to the fourth Thursday in November.

The spirit of this wonderful holiday, not to mention why I love my clients and practicing law in Fort Worth so much, is embodied in this email I just received from one of my sweet clients:

Mr. Berenson,

“Thank you for your help, kindness, generosity, and assistance.”

May each of you find joy tomorrow and during this holiday season. I am closing my office early so that my staff can enjoy additional time with their families (our phones will still be answered). My daughter is home so this is an especially meaningful time for my wife and I.

Have a blessed day tomorrow.
