Fewer Deaths On Roads North of Dallas and Fort Worth

The Texas Department of Transportation has just released 2011 records showing that Denton County and Collin County had the two lowest motor vehicle fatality rates in 2011 among the 63 Texas counties with more than 50,000 people.

While the state average was 12.2 fatalities for every 100,000 people, Denton County had only 4.5 and Collin County had 5 per 100,000. The newer suburbs have built safer, divided, well lit highways that reduce collisions.

Dallas County averaged 7.2 and Tarrant County had 8.2 deaths per 100,000 people, the national average for large counties in the U.S.

I have had to represent far too many people who have died from high speed crashes and more of the collisions have happened out in Parker, Hood, Wise and Johnson Counties outside of Fort Worth.

I was in court last week finalizing a serious bodily injury case that happened near Decatur. My client had had to swerve to avoid a head-on crash happening right in front of her and her daughter that took the life of another driver.
