Fewer wrongful death collisions in U.S.

In the first six months of 2009, deaths on U.S. highways decreased to a record low. “Only” 16,626 people died in traffic collisions, 7% less than the year before.

Fortunately, highway deaths have been decreasing since 2005.

Fewer people driving due to the recession, greater seat belt use, and better made vehicles with air bags and other safety devices are all factors.
